This apprenticeship will equip you with the skills, expertise, and TCAA licenses required to support the operational needs of an approved maintenance organization and airline operator.
Role Purpose
To undertake a structured training program comprising classroom instruction and on-the-job training (OJT) in Base, Line, and Workshop operations.
The program is designed to develop the required skills and knowledge for maintaining aircraft systems and structures in compliance with industry standards and operational requirements.
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities
- Complete a structured four-year apprentice training program combining theoretical knowledge and OJT to acquire TCAA licenses.
- Observe, learn, and understand a range of engineering skills and processes under the guidance of skilled technical staff.
- Gradually apply learned skills and processes independently or as part of a team, contributing effectively to departmental tasks.
- Learn to read and interpret maintenance manuals or other technical data for task feasibility and execution.
- Develop the ability to inspect aircraft structures and systems, including mechanical flight control, hydraulic, and fuel systems, using defined inspection programs and precision tools.
- Acquire skills to replace or repair damaged or worn aircraft components using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Learn to document inspection findings, corrective actions, and tasks in maintenance records to meet established standards.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas, ensuring proper tool and FOD (Foreign Object Debris) control.
- Understand and adhere to workplace health and safety standards, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Perform tasks safely and utilize appropriate technical data for assignments.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by applying Lean principles to enhance quality, safety, and cost efficiency.
- Assist mechanics in diagnosing malfunctions and conducting necessary repairs or adjustments to prepare aircraft for flight.
- Participate in aircraft towing, parking, and securing at various locations.
- Maintain a detailed logbook of tasks and skills acquired during the apprenticeship.
- Uphold professional conduct and appearance both on and off duty.
- Perform any additional duties relevant to the role as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Diploma or higher in Aeronautical Engineering, Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Safety-conscious and able to work under pressure.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks without compromising quality.
- Strong team player with proactive, accountable, and transparent work ethics.
- Experience in aircraft maintenance is an added advantage.
