Job Overview

NMB Bank Plc is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Manager – Business Liabilities to lead the growth of Business Liabilities (Deposits) within our Business Banking portfolio. This role is pivotal in advising on business strategies, mentoring Relationship Managers, and fostering a robust recruitment of business customers to achieve the department’s overall deposit targets.

The successful candidate will bring a strong background in sales management, relationship management, and business strategy to effectively guide teams and build sustainable customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Drive deposit mobilization across zones, including branches, business centers, and hubs.
    • Develop and implement strategies for MSME deposit growth and diversification of funding sources.
    • Provide strategic advice to the Head of Business Banking on portfolio development and funding initiatives.
  • Team Development:
    • Mentor and support Relationship Managers to enhance business growth and portfolio performance.
    • Guide teams to meet sales targets and improve customer experience through digital payment and collection platforms.
  • Portfolio Management:
    • Prepare and manage departmental budgets, projections, and event plans for business banking activities.
    • Oversee the execution of pipelines and ensure the success of potential liability deals.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including business associations, top depositors, and development partners.
    • Collaborate with internal departments to support business events, sponsorships, and customer engagements.
  • Customer-Centric Initiatives:
    • Represent NMB at customer forums and enhance customer relationships through networking and excellent service delivery.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong sales management and business development expertise.
  • Deep understanding of bank products, policies, and procedures, including knowledge of Flexcube systems.
  • Excellent client management, networking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in standard computer applications (Excel, Word, Access).
  • Strong communication and presentation skills in English and Kiswahili.
  • Expertise in leadership, time management, coaching, and team building.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Banking, Economics, or a related field (MBA is a plus).
  • At least 6 years of experience in Business Banking/Corporate Banking relationship management.
  • Proven ability to manage a team of Relationship Managers and execute digitization projects.
  • Experience in working with sector associations, SACCOS, and NGOs.
