Position Details:

• Title: Geological Assistant
• Reporting To: Geological Technician
• Location: Kahama, Shinyanga, Tanzania
• Duration: Permanent
• Posting Date: 19th December 2024

Responsibilities:

• Monitor equipment and ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental policies.
• Supervise grade control drilling activities and monitor production tasks, including downtime and standby time.
• Ensure proper core orientation, marking, and recovery processes are followed accurately.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper handling of drill cores, ensuring they are delivered in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with drill contractors to ensure adherence to proper procedures.
• Provide feedback to peers and management promptly.
• Establish effective working relationships and contribute to a positive team environment.
• Perform tasks with minimal supervision while ensuring continuous improvement and delivery of results.
• Undertake additional duties as assigned by senior personnel.

Qualification Requirements:

• Diploma in Geology or Certificate in Secondary Education.
• Valid Tanzanian driving license with proven ability to drive manual gear vehicles (mandatory).

Experience Requirements:

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a mining or exploration environment.
• Demonstrated driving experience with a clean accident record and willingness to undergo a driving test.

Skills & Knowledge Requirements:

• Proficiency in English and Swahili (reading and writing).
• Familiarity with diamond drilling activities and related monitoring tasks.
• Understanding of site and mine inductions, as well as Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
