Embassy of Denmark Looking For Political Officer, Denmark’s partnership with Tanzania has been a cornerstone of its international engagement since 1963. Over the last six decades, Denmark has contributed more than 50 trillion TZS to Tanzania’s socio-economic development through Danida, fostering close ties between their governments, institutions, and people.
As Tanzania assumes a more prominent role on the global stage, Denmark is expanding its partnership to encompass not only development cooperation but also government-to-government collaboration, trade, investment, and enriched political dialogue on issues of mutual importance.
To advance this broadened agenda, the Royal Danish Embassy in Dar es Salaam seeks a proactive and analytical Political Officer to support its mission.
Position: Political Officer
Location: The Royal Danish Embassy in Dar es Salaam
Type of Employment: Local contract
Starting Date: 15 March 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter

Key Responsibilities:
- Political Analysis and Reporting:
- Monitor and assess Tanzania’s political landscape, including its regional and global interests.
- Prepare clear, concise, and analytical reports on political, social, and regional security developments relevant to Danish policy priorities.
- Networking and Outreach:
- Build and maintain strong networks with local stakeholders aligned with the Embassy’s priorities.
- Engage with relevant actors in government, civil society, and international forums to strengthen the Embassy’s political network.
- Policy Dialogue and Coordination:
- Actively participate in relevant working groups and coordination forums.
- Facilitate dialogues on common policy priorities such as peace, stability, and regional security.
- Research Partnerships:
- Manage smaller partnerships with think tanks.
- Foster collaboration with researchers and think tanks in Denmark and Tanzania.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Strong interest in global, regional, and national political affairs.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to write clear and well-structured reports.
- Proven experience in building and maintaining professional networks.
- Ability to represent the Embassy in diverse forums with professionalism and cultural sensitivity.
- Fluency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of Swahili will be an advantage.
