Job Overview

The National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) of Tanzania invites applications for the position of Director of Membership Services. This is a senior role responsible for leading strategic initiatives, managing stakeholder relationships, and ensuring the effective operation of the Division.

The Director will play a pivotal role in driving membership-related activities, maintaining compliance with statutory requirements, and enhancing the Board’s overall performance and image.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Formulate and recommend strategic objectives and plans for the Division to the Executive Director.
  2. Ensure timely preparation and submission of annual plans and budgets to the Budget Committee.
  3. Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders, including staff, management, members, and external partners.
  4. Oversee day-to-day operations and ensure the Division adheres to the Board’s statutory functions.
  5. Initiate procurement processes for the Division as required.
  6. Promote and manage staff performance-based contracts to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  7. Build and foster a high-performance culture and teamwork aligned with the Board’s values.
  8. Identify and address training needs, recruitment, and staffing requirements within approved frameworks.
  9. Implement decisions from the Governing Board and report on their progress.
  10. Improve Division processes and procedures for greater efficiency and productivity.
  11. Ensure compliance with financial and non-financial reporting requirements.
  12. Develop and deliver market-responsive Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programs.
  13. Coordinate the registration and sensitization of accountancy professionals.
  14. Oversee regulatory activities, including audit quality reviews and disciplinary matters for members.
  15. Facilitate dissemination of professional knowledge and research activities.
  16. Strengthen international affiliations to enhance professional knowledge-sharing opportunities.
  17. Promote public awareness of the Division’s activities and services to uphold the Board’s reputation.
  18. Provide expert advice on corporate issues related to membership services.
  19. Collaborate with the IT Section to maintain membership information on the Board’s website.
  20. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Qualification and Experience

  • Education: Master’s Degree in Accountancy, Finance, Commerce, or Business Administration (with a focus on Accountancy or Finance), or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Must hold CPA (T) or an equivalent professional qualification recognized by NBAA and be registered as an “Associate Accountant” or “Fellow Accountant.”
  • Master’s Degree must align with the candidate’s Bachelor’s Degree field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of work experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
