When will matric results 2025 be released?

The 2024 National Senior Certificate examinations will conclude on 28 November 2024, and the Minister of Basic Education, Ms. Siviwe Gwarube, will announce the outcome of the examinations between 13 and 15 January 2025. Results will be released to candidates on 16 January 2025. Some results may not be available because of technical issues.

Candidates are urged to get their statements of results from their school/centre where they wrote the exams. Candidates’ results will also be available on this website from 6am on January 16, 2025. Result queries should be submitted for investigation within 30 days after the release of results.

Candidates must ensure that names and identity numbers reflect correctly on their statement of results and report any required corrections to the Department before 21 February 2025.

Important Dates and Procedures

  • Results Availability: Candidates should collect their statements of results from their respective schools or exam centers. Additionally, results will be accessible online starting at 6 AM on 16 January 2025.
  • Result Queries: Any queries regarding results must be submitted within 30 days of their release.
  • Correction of Details: Candidates must verify that their names and identity numbers are correct on their statements and report any discrepancies to the Department by 21 February 2025.

Re-marking and Re-checking

Candidates wishing to challenge their results can apply for a remark or recheck of their examination scripts for a fee.

  • Re-mark Fee: R116.00 per subject
  • Re-check Fee: R29.00 per subject

Applications for re-marking or re-checking can be submitted at schools, district offices, or online at www.eservices.gov.za, with a closing date of 31 January 2025 for all applications.

Viewing Examination Scripts

Candidates may view their scripts only after a re-mark or re-check has been conducted. The application for viewing must be made within 7 days following the release of re-mark results, with a viewing fee of R220.00. Results from the re-marking process will be available from 14 March 2025 at the respective schools or exam centers.

June NSC Examinations

The supplementary examination previously held in February/March has been discontinued. Instead, candidates can take the new examination in May/June to improve their results or complete outstanding subjects. The application deadline for this is 7 February 2025.

Conditions for Entry:

  • Candidates may register only for subjects they were registered for in previous November examinations.
  • Valid reasons such as medical conditions or family bereavement allow candidates who were absent from papers to register for the June examination.
  • Candidates who did not complete one or more papers for reasons other than illness may also apply if they have valid external marks.

Options for Non-qualifying Candidates

Those who do not qualify to write the June NSC examination have several options:

  1. Re-enroll as a full-time candidate at a school (if under 21 years old).
  2. Register as a part-time candidate at a public adult education Centre.
  3. Pursue the Senior Certificate examination if over 21 years old.
  4. Consider vocational education and training at one of the many Public Further Education and Training (FET) colleges across South Africa.
